I haven't been in the habit of updating my blog recently and I really miss both the joy and creativity that comes with writing. My dear friend, Kailee, wrote a recent post that inspired me to pick up long-form content once again. I don't know about you, but at times I feel burnt out with social media content - both creating and consuming it. There's only so much that can fit into a 90 second reel. I miss going deeper. My goal here will be to connect with you guys in a way that builds genuine community. So, this will be the first of many little journal entries. I will continue posting bible studies and related topics as well!

It already feels like the "dog days of summer" here in Florida thanks to a heat wave that came through around mid-May. It spiked our daily temperatures up to nearly 100.F! Needless to say, we've been spending more time indoors. However, we do take advantage of the cooler evenings to get outside, enjoy the golden hour, and breathe in some fresh air.

This past week, we did our first fishing trip to our neighborhood creek. Daddy helped Claire catch her very first fish! The mosquitos loved us standing still for so long and I left with many "love" bites up and down my legs.

Then, this past weekend, we made a trip to visit friends who live on a farm. I vlogged our adventure and made it into a reel on my Instagram profile if you'd like to experience it with us. My friend and her husband made us a delicious meal of steak, corn on the cob, fresh green beans, sweet potatoes, and couscous. Our children had a blast playing together - hide and seek, kitchen play, and they even helped snap the beans for dinner. After our meal, we took a tour of the farm. We fed the cattle a truckload of broccoli and then went around the property on Bobcat UTVs. We stumbled upon quite a few wild blackberry bushes. The kids really enjoyed picking the ripe berries and popping them straight into their mouths. They were so sweet and juicy. We drove over a little creek that runs into a river and then made our way back towards the homestead. It was such a delightful afternoon full of fun and new experiences.

We have a few things already planned for this summer: we’ll be attending my husband's High School Reunion in June and then an extended-family “4th of July Low Country Boil” get-together. We’re also celebrating our 13th wedding anniversary in September, so we may plan a little family get-away around that time.

I hope you guys have a lovely summer full of rest, new adventures, and slow living. May we take the time to soak in these moments and enjoy the present with intentionality & thanksgiving. I'll leave you with a photo from Memorial Day Weekend.

Esther, that means so much to me! Thank you for taking the time to let me know. I want to go back to slower days where I spend more time reading blogs than endlessly scrolling! 🫶🏻🥹
